Daniel David arrives

Image
I should mention that Daniel David Draper was born August 3, 2008. He is a happy boy, but a little sick right now.

Time wanders on

Our parable idea was rejected, but our animations received some praise and we were asked to contact the head of BYU-TV international to discuss some other possible projects. We are looking at some animated interstitials about life in Latin America to begin with. Then we will be pitching an idea for producing some additional animation after that one rolls out. If our interstitials are received well, I think we'll be in good shape.

Submission

Tomorrow we hand in our pitch to BYU-TV for their funding support for a production of the parables as animated by us. I hope we've done adequate work for this.

Meeting the future

Jacob and I will meet with Sterling Van Wagenen tomorrow to pitch some ideas for BYU-TV and get his input regarding what ideas might be most useful to pursue.

Producing ... a family

I am running the home front while Valorie is away at the national collegiate racquetball tournament in Overland Park, Kansas. She has been gone since Monday and will be returning Sunday. So, I wrangle kids all day and all night. I worked extra last Saturday and a longer day Monday in preparation for this week. I've worked every evening so far, doing my graduate studies job from home. I've also done some grading and class preparation for the class I'm teaching. It's been a full week so far. I certainly have empathy for single parents. It's tough duty.

The Producers

My brother Jacob and I are embarking on a path that will lead to the production of some quality films that adhere to a higher level of morality than is generally depicted in much of Hollywood fare. We feel there is a disconnect between what Hollywood shows and the values of the majority of Americans.  We want compelling stories, just without the foul language, focus on human hormonal interactions, and gore. Stay tuned for more on this subject later on.

Opening day

Wow! A potential world-wide audience and nobody is even aware that I am about to launch this blog. Pretty exciting stuff. I hope to add important comments soon.
